Escaped convict Lamont Alexander Holmes escaped his house arrest using a technique straight from a movie plot.

No joke, the New York man slipped his ankle monitor off, stuck it on a dog, and set the dog loose. He'd been charged with felony possession of a loaded weapon, and is now on the run.

But the details of the story get even more ridiculous.

A woman found a dog running free near Krouner Road in the town of Nassau. After the dog jumped into her car, she took it to the Nassau veterinarian office.

A staff member at the veterinarian office noticed an unusual device on the dog's collar and contacted Schodack police. The police then reached out to Albany County Probation.

The probation office says they were aware one of their GPS monitoring systems had been tampered with.

The part that's odd is that dog made it into a lady's car, to the vet, and through several police departments before anyone did anything.

Maybe I've seen too many movies with this plot and am expecting too much here.

I mean when the second Ant Man's ankle monitor went outside its perimeter, federal agents swarmed the place. Sure, he fooled them all by putting it on his pet ant ...

But if the giant insect had left the house, the agents would have been there instantly.

So where was the cop swarm when Holmes removed his ankle monitor?

Disappointingly, Holmes remains on the run, and authorities are trying to locate him.

They're also looking for the owner of the dog, which may or may not be Holmes.
