People in the Bronx aren't real happy with New York Governor Kathy Hochul after suggesting that black children there don't even know what a computer is.
She made the ridiculous and oh so very racist statement at the Milken Institute's Global Conference.
'Right now we have, you know, young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don't even know what the word ‘computer' is,' she can be heard saying.
'They don't know, they don't know these things. And I want the world opened up to all of them,' she continued.
Welcome to 2024, Governor Hochul.
Assemble Member Karines Reyes of the Bronx sounded off on the statement on X.
Governor Hochul backpedaled quickly as news of her statement spread.
'I misspoke and I regret it,' Hochul later told the Post in a statement. 'Of course Black children in the Bronx know what computers are — the problem is that they too often lack access to the technology needed to get on track to high-paying jobs in emerging industries like AI. That's why I've been focused on increasing economic opportunity since Day One of my Administration.'
She misspoke?
Funny, there's another powerful Democrat who keeps "misspeaking" in a similarly racist way about the black community:
