National leftwing media outlet The Hill published this headline today and you have to admit, the Covid insanity has reached new heights.
That's right, according to this news story, there are more drownings this year because of Covid-19.
Ok, let's be fair, let's look at the actual story from The Hill to see what evidence there is that Covid-19 is contributing in drowning deaths.
Guess what, there is no evidence. The story doesn't even mention Covid-19 outside of the headline. The only strained connection is found in the opening paragraph:
This summer, there has been an increasing number of drownings taking place in lakes, rivers, and backyard pools, with some experts believing that the heat waves and children who were not able to be taught how to swim during this pandemic are to blame.
That's right unnamed "experts" are partially blaming the lack of swimming lessons during the pandemic. That's it. The only connection is that some people think that maybe the lack of swimming lessons may contribute to the rise in numbers of drowning.
Additionally, there isn't much of a story here anyways. The total number of drowning deaths from last year to this year rose from 25 to 34. Not to diminish the loss of life, but it's not exactly national news story worthy.
UNLESS, OF COURSE, YOU CAN CONNECT IT TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
Then it's national news and worth making a huge issue of.
Add this to the list of things Covid can do. Be careful or the 'Rona will drown you.
