Meet Bruce Fein:
Bruce Fein filed a motion to represent captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro in court:
As it turns out, Maduro has no idea who Bruce Fein is.
The confusion started when Maduro's actual lawyer, Barry J. Pollack - who represented Wikileaks founder Julian Assange - filed a motion with the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York (that's a mouthful) to inform the court that Fein has no connection to Maduro.
On January 6, 2026, Bruce Fein filed a motion to appear pro hac vice and a notice of entry of appearance purporting to appear on behalf of Mr. Maduro as retained counsel.
On January 8, 2026, I was able to have a legal call with Mr. Maduro. I confirmed with Mr. Maduro that he does not know Mr. Fein and has not communicated with Mr. Fein, much less retained him, authorized him to enter an appearance, or otherwise hold himself out as representing Mr. Maduro. Mr. Maduro authorized me to file a motion to strike Mr. Fein's appearance.
When Bruce Fein was contacted about the issue, he said,
It's all messed up.
Awkward?
That's an understatement.
Fein, an associate deputy attorney general during Ronald Reagan's presidency, but now just an anti-Trump keyboard warrior, stated that he was in contact with "individuals credibly situated" within Maduro's inner circle or family.
He claimed that Maduro ‘had expressed a desire' for his ‘assistance in this matter.'
Federal Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein removed Fein from Maduro's defense team and denied his request to summon Maduro and ask if he wanted Fein on his team.
‘If Maduro wishes to retain Fein, he has the ability to do so,' Hellerstein wrote. ‘Fein cannot appoint himself to represent Maduro.'
From the looks of some of Fein's tweets, he seems like such a stable guy.
If national borders don't matter, then Trump was perfectly within his rights to cross into Venezuela and snag Maduro!
