If you want to know where we're at in this country when it comes to immigration enforcement, look no further than this report:
Yes, this Nigerian couple is facing federal charges for trying to evade federal officers while one federal officer was trapped in their vehicle with them.
This happened at an apartment complex in Plymouth, Minnesota, on December 10.
Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye (24) had overstayed his student visa, so the feds were looking for him. They saw where his car was parked, but couldn't locate him. That is, until his girlfriend, Rekeya Frazier (23) pulled up in an SUV with him in the passenger seat.
The officers approached the vehicle, showed the couple their badges, and told them they worked for DHS. And that is when Bamigboye jumped into the back seat of the SUV and shouted, "Drive! Drive! Drive!"
From the local Fox affiliate:
Frazier then got into the driver's seat of the SUV and started the engine, according to the complaint. One of the agents then got into the SUV's passenger seat and tried to stop Frazier from putting the SUV into drive. Bamigboye then tried to push the agent out of the SUV. Frazier then started driving away with the agent inside the SUV.
And when the officer tried to put the car in park, Frazier threatened to crash the car. She would drive the agent to the New Hope Police Department, closely followed by the feds in a Ford SUV. The Ford would park Frazier's SUV in when they arrived at the police station, so natrually Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye would flee to a nearby Hy-Vee grocery store.
Bamigboye would soon be arrested, and Frazier would too. Bamigboye gave some sob story about how he has PTSD from the time he was kidnapped in Nigeria. From the looks of it, he's going to have PTSD the whole plane ride back to Africa.
Both Bamigboye and Frazier are charged federally with interfering with an HSI agent with the intent to commit another felony.
That's where we're at in this country when it comes to immigration enforcement.
