Nobody wanted the dog with the face like a droopy pancake—until one lady drove nearly 3,000 miles to get him.

Life's hard for a rescue dog. Lots of people want puppies. Maybe they think you got baggage. You have to work twice as hard to prove that you're a good doggo.

And if you look like this, well, man, people will just judge the heck out of your face. It's not right!

Now, some people might find it endearing if you're a dog that looks like half its face was hit by a super-gravity ray gun. This good boy here looks like a snuggly little version of the Batman villain Two-Face. I think he's irresistible!

Yet nobody wanted to adopt him — until one lady decided she had to have him. And boy, did she prove it:

For Sherry Lankston, a mom of two in the Seattle area, a regular social media check-in turned into an unexpected road trip and a new family member when she stumbled onto a Facebook post in February by Joy Ollinger, a lieutenant with the San Diego Department of Animal Services.

Ollinger had posted on Facebook about Harvey the Husky mix; the pooch has "a facial deformity that doesn't bother him but gives him a crooked smile." (As a matter of fact, the dog was named "Harvey" after Harvey Dent, AKA Two-Face!)

And boy, what a face:

That's 1,000 watts of crooked beauty right there. But most people didn't feel that way:

"In the entire time Harvey was here, he never got any interest," Ollinger said. "He was never asked about or taken on an interact by anyone until Sherry came along. And he was a shelter favorite and a volunteer favorite so he got lots of time out in the play yards with the volunteers and he got time in my office, but he had zero interest by adopters."

Poor Harvey. You can get up every day, put on your best lopsided grin, be a good boy, and still nobody will look at you twice.

Until Sherry, that is:

Lankston quickly sent a message to Ollinger but the only problem was that she and her family were two states and over 1,300 miles away. While Ollinger and her team were trying to figure out how to potentially transport Harvey north, Lankston decided to bring her sons, who were going to be on their mid-winter school break, and their dog River on an impromptu road trip.

Yeah uh, not to quibble here, but 1,300 miles is not a "road trip." A road trip is when you drive from Memphis to Nashville for a night or two of country music and barbecue. A 1,300-mile trip is more like a quest, or a journey, or something like that.

Regardless, Lankston took the right approach, making the long journey into a family event that will doubtlessly be remembered for decades:

"We made an adventure out of it to go down because I wanted this to be a good memory for the boys and for me," the mom of two added.

It could've all turned out differently but as luck would have it, Harvey, whose "lopsided face" doesn't impact his health in any way, ended up being a perfect match for Lankston and her family.

A happy ending — for the Lankston family, and for Harvey and his two faces! ❤️
