Anyone looking forward to celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a classic corned beef sandwich may need to prepare to pay handsomely for it — if they can find a place that has any.
Restaurant owners are pointing their fingers at the price of meat for the lack of supply (thanks, Biden).
According to The New York Post, even longtime vendors and go-to spots for the traditional Irish meal are struggling to keep corned beef on hand:
This year's inflated price of the beloved St. Patrick's Day staple corned beef is making New Yorkers' wallets bleed green — and is so expensive one supplier named after the product is no longer selling it.
'These guys couldn't hack it because of the pricing,' Joe DiGangi, owner of Queens' Mario's Meats and Deli, said of his former vendor Mosey's Corned Beef. 'Not everyone does it anymore because of the pricing.'
This means that St. Patrick's Day revelers may need to forego their corned beef and instead drown their sorrows in beer.
But, let's face it…
… they were probably going to be doing that anyway.
