The Atlanta judicial circuit having a normal one, we see:
An Atlanta judge, who was recently arrested for allegedly hitting a police officer outside an Atlanta nightclub, should be removed from office after an ongoing investigation into separate ethics charges, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday.
Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson, 38, was removed from the bench effective Tuesday. The Georgia Supreme Court ruling comes after the Judicial Qualifications Commission found Peterson guilty of 'systemic incompetence' and recommended her removal in April.
I just want to point out here that "judge ruled incompetent in April and removed near the end of June" is very on-brand for Democrat-controlled urban enclaves.
What's even more on-brand is that Peterson was appointed to her position in 2020, despite no former experience, but was hailed as the first black female probate judge in Douglas County. This was a card she very quickly played when she was accused of all her sordid deeds.
Equity!
(This is what Marxism looks like, y'all, in case you needed a sneak peak.)
But what did ex-Judge Peterson do that was so awful? Well, for starters, she apparently ran her courtroom like a money-grubbing carnival, such as one case in which she "jail[ed] a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Thailand after the woman sought to amend her marriage license with the name of her real father":
Peterson ruled the woman was trying to defraud the court and sentenced her to a maximum of 20 days in jail, which could be reduced to two days if the woman paid a $500 fine. The woman paid the fine and was released after two days.
A review panel found the woman was acting "in good faith" trying to correct the marriage license; Peterson herself subsequently lied to the panel when discussing the case.
And boy oh boy did she rake in the dough from this scheme!
Overall, there were "30 counts brought against Peterson" as part of recent proceedings; the Georgia Supreme Court "found that 12 of those counts warranted discipline."
It also probably didn't help that recent video footage appeared to show her assaulting a cop at a club in downtown Atlanta:
(Warning: Graphic language and trashy outfits)
Subsequent to the state supreme court's ruling, Peterson "will not be eligible to be elected or appointed to any future judicial position in Georgia for seven years."
Don't put it past Atlanta to put her back on the bench after seven years! ๐
