People just don't understand what Anthony is saying (or singing). They also don't understand that millions and millions of other Americans feel the exact same way.
OA does not want to fight on the side of establishment Republicans in a battle against establishment Democrats. He is criticizing the perpetually ruling Uniparty -- which includes both. The aristocrats who take advantage of us, take us for granted, make promises and pander to us for votes, only to tell us after the election, "Your money's on the dresser. Get out."
Democrats and Republicans might not agree across the aisle publicly, ever, but behind closed doors, they laugh with each other across that aisle. They're rich in money and connections, they're set forever, and they make the rules, all without ever having to learn what it's like to be a real everyday American. You know, the ones actually affected by their rules.
More and more people are sick of that from BOTH sides.
