It's an unlikely fusion of two sports that no one could have predicted.
Some equestrian competitors at the Olympics are concerned a life-size sumo wrestler statue on the course could scare the horses.
"As you come around, you see a big guy's (butt)," British rider Harry Charles said. "I did notice four or five horses really taking a spook to that."
"There's a lot to look at," Ireland's Cian O'Connor said.
"It is very realistic," Israel's Teddy Vlock said. "It does look like a person, and that's a little spooky. You know, horses don't want to see a guy, like, looking intense next to a jump, looking like he's ready to fight you."
I'm not sure who asked for this, but now that I've thought about it, this actually makes perfect sense!
How else am I supposed to enjoy watching a horse-riding competition?
Come to think of it... I don't want to live in a world WITHOUT sumo wrestler statues in horse-riding competitions!
What would make it even more gnarly is to replace the statues with actual sumo wrestlers. They should add a new discipline of the horses dueling the sumo wrestlers.
Put them in the octagon, and let's just see what happens, folks!
