The Mayo Clinic is one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world and it's been around for nearly 160 years, so we can assume they know what they're doing if they fire a whopping 1% of their workforce during an ongoing labor crisis:
Mayo Clinic now confirms it fired 700 employees Tuesday who did not comply with its policy to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by Monday.
Ah, yes, the old "keep everyone safe by reducing staff at a time when every single employee is desperately needed" gambit. Works every time!
Apparently, if you're one of the unlucky ones who've been booted from the Mayo Clinic, you can "return to [the hospital] for future job openings" so long as you get the jab.
It would not surprise me if most if not all of the fired workers took the following course of action in response to that offer:
The dismissed employees make up about 1% of Mayo's 73,000 workforce. Officials say while it's sad to lose valuable employees, it's essential to keep patients, the workforce, visitors and communities safe.
Ah, yes. We've got to keep people safe from a virus that nearly everyone will survive, so we'll fire the people who do the cancer screenings, life-saving surgeries, lab diagnostics, and other essential jobs that identify and treat the other 1,000 deadly conditions that tend to kill people!
Seems like common sense not to fire your employees for reasons like this, but what do we know?
