“One person is not allowed to raise taxes”: Rand Paul is angry at Trump's tariffs and I'm just here for the popcorn

Like him or not, Rand Paul is being Rand Paul again. This time he's talking Trump's tariffs.

Trump signed his reciprocal tariffs executive order yesterday.

While most on the Right cheered him on, there were a few dissenting voices, including Sen. Paul, who sponsored this resolution.

This resolution is largely symbolic, as the Republicans majority in Congress has already committed to Trump's tariff strategy.

Here's Rand's full speech on the Senate floor:

‘I stand to speak against the tariffs. I stand to speak against the idea of skipping democracy, of skipping the constitutional republic, of rejecting our founding principles.'

‘Not because I have any animus towards the president. I do this because I love my country…'

‘We should vote. This is a tax, plain and simple.'

‘Taxes should not be enacted by one person.'

I love that Rand Paul is being Rand Paul here, but in the modern age, the president usually wins these battles. Interpret that as you will.

Everyone still loves the drama.
