Despite debating Charlie Kirk at Oxford, Abaraonye gleefully celebrated the news that Kirk had been shot in the neck during a September event in Utah.

After the assassination, Abaraonye went viral for a comment about "cancers" in society that "must be taken down by any means necessary." While it was a short clip taken out of context by right-wing accounts, given the timing after Kirk's assassination, it made people question who or what Abaraonye considers "cancers."
Abaraonye is remaining defiant in his attempts to maintain power, however. According to the Express, he stated "I'm still president-elect," has claimed the vote was not valid, claimed systemic racism was working against him, brought up election tampering theories, and dismissed reports of misconduct as "false."
The vote had opened for in-person submissions on Saturday between 10am and 8pm, with proxy options available to the society's 8,000 eligible members.
Mr Abaraonye dismissed the claims of misconduct by his supporters as 'false' and levelled explosive counter-accusations of systemic bias. He alleged that the poll was 'compromised' from the outset due to "untested" regulations introduced by current president Moosa Harraj and a Standing Committee majority hostile to his leadership.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said: 'We do not know if or how many proxy votes have been tampered with,' pointing to Lock's decision to share the email address for proxy submissions with personnel who had campaigned against him.
