Pence: Trump should apologize for giving "a white nationalist, an antisemite, and a Holocaust denier a seat at the table"

Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence criticized former President Donald Trump for "profoundly poor judgment" after recently meeting with "a white nationalist, an antisemite, and a Holocaust denier."

"President Trump was wrong to give a white nationalist, an antisemite and Holocaust denier, a seat at the table and I think he should apologize for it," Pence said. "And he should denounce those individuals and their hateful rhetoric without qualification."

Pence is presumably referring to when Trump met with Kanye West and "three of his friends" including Nick Fuentes.

"This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago," Trump said in a statement after the meeting. "Shortly thereafter, he unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about. We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful. They then left to the airport.

Pence also criticized the "broad brush of attack that media leveled at [Trump]" after the recent meeting.

"I don't believe Donald Trump is an antisemite," Pence said. "I don't believe he's a racist or a bigot. I would not have been his vice president if he was. People often forget the President's daughter converted to Judaism. His son-in-law is a devout Jew. His grandchildren are Jewish."
