Peter Jackson is making a NEW “Lord of the Rings” movie, but the reactions on the internet are not all positive

Hollywood is returning to the well, hoping to capture new audiences and bring back old ones with a new Lord of the Rings movie.

It's Peter Jackson again! It's Tolkien again! What could go wrong?

Apparently, a lot.

Of all the possible Lord of the Rings, Middle-earth universe possibilities, we get Aragorn vs. Gollum The Movie.

Seriously, what is this? Lord of the Rings version of Solo at worst and maybe Rogue One at best? I mean, it's the side story about how one small part of The Lord of the Rings stories, told in the greatest movie trilogy of all time, came about.

Does anyone really want more of the same characters like this?

I mean, sure, I love Andy Serkis as Gollum, and I love Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn (He's in this, right?), and I trust Peter Jackson to do Tolkien. But an entire movie of the Gollum chase?

In a press release from Warner Bros. later Thursday morning, the studio revealed that the working title for the film is 'Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,' and it will be directed by and star Serkis in his iconic titular role. The film will be executive produced by Ken Kamins, with Serkis and The Imaginarium's Jonathan Cavendish ...

'Yesssss, Precious,' Serkis said. 'The time has come once more to venture into the unknown with my dear friends, the extraordinary and incomparable guardians of Middle Earth: Peter, Fran and Philippa. With Mike and Pam, and the Warner Bros team on the quest as well, alongside WETA and our filmmaking family in New Zealand, it's just all too delicious …'

So, Serkis is also going to direct the movie? This is going to be a 3-hour Gollum fest, isn't it?

I mean, it could be great. I'll go see it. But with so much Middle-earth lore, why this story?

But not everyone is a negative Nancy like me.

We'll see.

Maybe Hollywood can pull out another miracle and make a good movie again.

Anything is possible!
