Well, this is sure to be good for the people of Pennsylvania.

It looks like the city of Pittsburgh is going to let criminals get a step up on the cops, especially at night.

If you are robbed you'll have to leave police a voicemail. If you have to be out from 3 AM to 7 AM, good luck! It's the Purge out there!

(Police) will no longer respond to calls that aren't considered in-progress emergencies. That means crimes like criminal mischief, theft, harassment, burglary alarms will all be handled by an enhanced telephone reporting unit, that means residents will file a police report over the phone. Officers will not respond unless it's an emergency.

This is me sitting in my empty apartment that just got completely demolished by a gang of burglars. ๐Ÿ‘‡

The cops are so underfunded and so unable to find cops who want to work in a blue city that they can't even come to check out the crime scene unless it's an emergency.

Unreal.

Oh, but good luck with emergencies: You might have to wait on hold for help there, too.

During the overnight shift there will be as few as 20 officers to cover the entire city. The chief said today the data supports that.

This is a city of 300,000 people that's had a 105% increase in rape from 2022 to 2023.

The excuse given by the police chief is that only 8% of their calls come during those 3-7 AM overnight hours.

But, I don't know, maybe this announcement wasn't the best idea because now criminals know that their odds of running into police at night are insanely slim.

You basically announced the Purge at night in Pittsburgh. The city is too broke to police the streets at night, so now you can have at it.

Good luck, Pittsburgh!
