Even by the standards of the present awful crime wave in the U.S., this assault was shocking in its brutality:

So it is with great pleasure that we learn the accused perp has been caught by police:

Two people who aren't old enough to legally buy alcohol confessed to detectives that they were involved in a violent robbery in Chinatown last month that left a woman with severe injuries, according to Houston police.

Joseph Harrell, 17, and Zy'Nika Woods, 19, are charged with aggravated robbery and were taken into custody.

The two are accused of attacking Nhung Truong after she withdrew a large amount of money from the bank to take on an upcoming trip. Houston PD's Detective Tyrus Fontenot said Harrell went back to assault her a second time after he realized he hadn't stolen Truong's money after the first assault:

"Our male suspect here exited the vehicle driven by Miss Woods here and assaulted the victim first by trying to take her purse and her wallet," Fontenot said. "Eventually, after learning he didn't have the money she withdrew from the bank, he went back and assaulted her again by picking her up and slamming her down onto the concrete."

Woods was caught first by police, after which she narced on her accomplice, thank goodness. There's no honor among thieves, certainly not among those who would violently assault a mother.

The upshot: Harrell robbed Truong of the $4,300 she had on her, but a GoFundMe set up to help her recover from her injuries has raised over $250,000 in a week.

Let's pray that she recovers quickly and easily and gets to use most of that money for something other than medical treatment.
