Ben & Jerry’s, a former ice cream company, is now requiring new employees to watch lectures on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Jokes aside, ice cream is not all Ben & Jerry's is selling these days. The company is mostly just a political activist group funded by ice cream sales.

According to Jewish Insider, who uncovered their most recent political activism when an employee leaked a training video, Ben & Jerry's is now requiring all new employees to watch a series of videos by Omar Shakir, who serves as Human Rights Watch's Israel and Palestine director. The video documents how horrible Israel is and how the Palestinian aggression is warranted.

"If you look at the recent escalation that took place in May of 2021, it started over discriminatory efforts to force Palestinians out of their homes in occupied East Jerusalem as part of this larger policy."

Shakir was expelled from Israel in 2019, and reportedly counseled Ben & Jerry's before its Israeli boycott.

Even the state of New York thinks they're going too far. According to New York law, the state cannot hold investments in any company that boycotts Israel.

Last week, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul gave Unilever a final warning before the state divests its $111 million in shares from the U.K.-based conglomerate, which would add the state to those already divested from the corporation over the Israel event, namely, New Jersey, Illinois, and Florida.

Neither Shakir, nor Ben & Jerry's responded to a request for comment.

However, I think it's safe to add this new item to the growing list of Ben & Jerry's political activism. Let's take a look at how it's going:

They're lobbying for tighter gun laws.

They're trying to make their cows stop burping and farting so much.

They've made social justice ice cream.

They partnered with Colin Kapernick to make vegan ice cream.

They've even engaged with the idea of not selling ice cream in conservative states because of abortion laws.

As for me, I think we should listen to Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's, and stamp money out of politics, which I guess means buying a different brand of ice cream.
