Remember Homestar and Strong Bad? They're 20 now, but no less hilarious!

Back in the early-to-mid 00's, the Flash Player plug-in was like steroids for your browser, revolutionizing what you could do with less than 1MB download speeds. This introduced a renaissance of online games and animation that Kids-These-Days can never fully appreciate.

One of the absolutely greatest achievements of this era was a quirky website with a loyal cult following: Homestarrunner.com

Homestarrunner.com

The site would greet newcomers with a whimsical song and animation (or a prompt to download the latest version of Flash). While the cartoons originally centered around the armless, happy-go-lucky Homestar Runner, it was the boxing glove-wearing antagonist Strong Bad who quickly became the fan favorite.

In an ongoing series that propelled the website to super-cult-status, Strong Bad would respond to fan emails in wacky and outlandish ways, often incorporating retro-pop culture references.

In addition to hilarious animations, Homestarrunner.com featured hidden interactive Easter eggs and even some pretty legit retro video games:

The 20-year-old Flash-based website may give a "Plug-in Missing" prompt for those of us living in the year 20X6, but you can still wax nostalgic over many of the animations (or enjoy them for the first time) on YouTube today.

While Strong Bad Emails has a soft place in my heart, my absolute favorite feature will always be Strong Bad's comic strip series, Teen Girl Squad:

And if that's not enough to make your head asplode, you can even purchase a Trogdor Board Game and Cheat Commandos collectibles from the website's online store.
