Remember When Fauci Told Rand Paul That Masks "Are Not Theater"? Today, He Said He Didn't Remove His Mask Earlier Because He Didn't Want To Give "Mixed Signals."

Masks have always been necessary, even when vaccinated, right? Right?

Let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?

Dr. Rand Paul and Dr. Fauci have gotten into a few heated exchanges over the past several months. The best exchange was perhaps in March, when Senator Paul asked Fauci if there was any reason at all to continue wearing a mask after being vaccinated:

Dr. Paul called masking after vaccination "theater" and asked if there is any study at all that suggests that someone can contract a serious case of Covid after vaccination or infection.

Paul was calling out the claims of Fauci, who was arguably parading around in a mask for political reasons. Fauci denied at the time that the mask was theater. He said it was a necessary precaution.

With that in mind, listen to what Dr. Fauci said just today to George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America:

Listen to what the good doctor says! Fauci says that after the new CDC guidance:

"I am much more comfortable with people seeing me indoors without a mask."

Notice that he's not saying he's actually more comfortable without a mask, he's just comfortable being seen that way. Almost as if the mask was, I don't know, purely political theater? Maybe I'm crazy, but that seems to be what he's saying.

Fauci goes on:

"I didn't want to look like I was giving mixed signals but being a fully vaccinated person, the chances of my getting infected in an indoor setting is extremely low."

For someone who vehemently denied being engaged in political theater and doing things based on appearances, it seems strange to say that the reason he continued to wear a mask was so he wouldn't be giving off mixed signals. It sure seems like the decision was based on optics and not science.

Yes, the man who has flip flopped on masks and had his motivations questioned throughout the entire pandemic has once again dazzled us all.

Who could have seen this coming?

To me, it would seem as if apologies are in order for Fauci: first to Rand Paul and then to the American people who have listened to this dude for a full year.

What. A. Clown. 🤡
