Did you know that we're born with four kidneys? When we grow up, two of them become adult knees.

I feel embarrassed for almost laughing at that one. Is there a groan welling up inside? Are your eyes rolling in their sockets?

That‘s good for you.

At least that's what Dr. Marc Hye-Knudsen says in a recent paper published in the British Psychological Society. Science says that the pain of dad jokes develops character, especially in children.

I mean who are we to argue with scientists right?

(With notable exceptions.)

Hye-Knudsen posits that during the adolescence phase when children are prone to be embarrassed by their parents, dads trade out physical rough housing for verbal rough housing to toughen up their kids with embarrassingly bad jokes.

"By continually telling their children jokes that are so bad that they're embarrassing, fathers may push their children's limits for how much embarrassment they can handle. They show their children that embarrassment isn't fatal."

"After years and years of being exposed to eye-roll-inducing humour, with a complete disregard for what anybody else thinks, kids will have nothing greater left to fear. They'll gradually build up a strong immunity to judgement and embarrassment, and actually feel empowered to be themselves' (Billingsley, 2019)."

Additionally, humor, even dad jokes, requires critical thinking. In fact, studies have shown that folks without humor are incapable of thinking critically. Comedy also leads to better recall and learning.

And you just have to look at the Left's hatred for The Babylon Bee to see that that's true. It wouldn't surprise me to see a correlation in high intelligence with Babylon Bee and Not the Bee subscribers.

(How's that for shameless advertising?)

In conclusion, as much as adolescents might think they're dying when dad pops off another pun, they're really being prepared for success.

That's right, kids!

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Unless it's a grizzly bear. Those will just kill you.

Now please sit back and enjoy some of the best dad jokes posted this month!
