It's the end of a long, strange era of American frozen confections:
Pour one out for Choco Taco.
The beloved Klondike product, packaged ice cream in a taco-shaped cone, has been discontinued.
"Over the past 2 years, we have experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio nationwide," a Klondike Brand representative told CNN Business in an email, adding "we know this may be very disappointing."
Oh, is it "very disappointing?"
Let's face it, in the great pantheon of prepackaged ice cream treats, the Choco Taco was pretty weird. The "taco shell" was always kinda rubbery, the ice cream wasn't first-rate, the nuts on top made the whole thing a sort of confusing sensory experience... it just never hit right.
Just the same... every friend group had the one kid who would always insist on getting the Choco Taco. You remember that guy. He was a good guy, but he was also a little weird, in no small part because he was obsessed with the Choco Taco. Every gang had one of those kids.
That guy's out there buying up all the Choco Tacos he can fit in a deep freezer right now. If you like these things, you'd better do it too!

Editor's note: The rest of us at NTB who don't hate puppies and sunshine are praying this is just a marketing ploy and that our beloved Choco Taco would come back to grace us with its majesty.
