You want to know the pinnacle of human rebellion against God? How about this:
Sit for a moment and ponder what we're talking aboutt. Right now, there are guidelines on stem-cell research around the world that more or less require scientists to destroy human embryos after 14 days. Even in countries where this isn't a rule, it's a strong guideline in the scientific community.
"A key scientific body is ready to do away with the 14-day limit," said MIT. "The action would come at a time when scientists are making remarkable progress in growing embryonic cells and watching them develop... By allowing both normal and artificial embryos to continue developing after two weeks, the end of the self-imposed limit could unleash impressive but ethically charged new experiments on extending human development outside the womb."
Many like myself argue that the fertilization and destruction of any human embryo is the wanton destruction of a being made in God's very image. Those who adhere to the Bible understand the severity of such a crime.
Instead of asking if we should push beyond these limits, scientists are chomping at the bit to play god at new levels by seeing how long they can grow human beings that have been artificially created outside of the womb – and all in the name of advancing scientific understanding.
We are living in a real-life horror film.
"But it might cure cancer!" some would say of the research. "We might be able to live forever!"
I have a particular verse for anyone who thinks this way:
"You said in your heart: 'I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of assembly, in the far reaches of the north. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'"
Translation: We want to be gods.
New technology, same old human nature.
"Scientists are motivated to grow embryos longer in order to study—and potentially manipulate—the development process. But such techniques raise the possibility of someday gestating animals outside the womb until birth, a concept called ectogenesis."
Oh, the absolute next-level depravity we could create with such technology.
One scientist said such efforts "might ignite abortion debates."
Why is this all happening right now, you ask? What could have possibly happened to cause this shift in rules that have existed for half a century?
"During the Trump administration, embryologists endeavored to keep a low profile for the startling technical advances in their labs. Fears of a presidential tweet or government action to impede research helped keep discussion of changing the 14-day rule in the background."
I'm so glad that guy isn't around anymore. He had a bunch of mean tweets.
"More fully developed embryos [read: babies] could be used to study the consequences of gene editing and other types of modification. That is, if genetically modified humans are to be created in the future, the modifications should first be tested for safety on lab embryos."
