AI is taking over the world, and now "scientists have witnessed metal healing itself for the first time, without any human intervention." I think I can see where this is heading y'all.

We all knew it was coming. It was only a matter of time. Judgment Day is inevitable.

[S]cientists have just witnessed metal healing itself for the first time, without any human intervention.

A US-based study has overturned everything we thought we knew about metals by revealing that cracks from wear and tear can actually mend themselves under certain conditions.

Scientists witnessed a "nano-sized fracture shrink by 18nm." By itself.

It's unprecedented. Researcher Brad Boyce did note that "extensive research" will be needed to figure out "if this can also be induced in conventional metals" outside of a laboratory setting.

As Boyce put it:

"My hope is that this finding will encourage materials researchers to consider that, under the right circumstances, materials can do things we never expected."

We hope so too! Just please, don't use it for Terminators. We've already got this crazy A.I. stuff taking over the world. I mean come on.
