Scientists name ancient fossilized beaver species after Buc-ee’s, the world’s greatest convenience store.

Okay, you non-Texans may argue that Buc-ee's isn't the world's greatest convenience store — you'd be wrong, but you can argue it.

However, no one can argue that the chain doesn't have the world's largest convenience stores.

They keep breaking world's records on that front.

So, it's no wonder that when Texas scientists discovered an ancient beaver species roughly 30% bigger than today's beaver, the first thing they thought of was Buc-ee's.

Steve May of the UT Jackson School of Geosciences said that while working on identifying the fossils he saw a sign for Buc-ee's that read "It's Beaver Country."

"I thought, ‘Yeah, it is beaver country, and it has been for millions of years.'"

And that's where the name of Anchitheriomys buceei (A. buccei) originated.

After hearing of the honor that Buc-ee's received in naming the beaver species, Buc-ee's CEO and founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin III joked:

"Buc-ee's was founded in 1982, but we may need to rethink our beginnings."

And now after all this talk about Buc-ee's, I have a sudden craving for beef jerky and fudge.

I'll leave y'all with this quality Buce-ee's tribute from The Babylon Bee.
