Cheatle is finally doing what she should have done a week ago.

U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has stepped down after widespread calls by lawmakers for her to resign following the attempted assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on July 13, three sources told NBC News.

Fox News notes that Cheatle "had defied those calls [to resign] for days, maintaining she would not tender her resignation, and instead appeared before Congress to answer questions for the American people."

Weird that she would step down now. What changed?

An official announcement is coming later on Tuesday.
