This 35-year-old woman stole $600 worth of products from Sephora and $250 worth of Lululemon clothing — and she almost got away with it, too!
Cops almost lost her in the parking lot until a bystander pointed to a Telsa. The flashing trunk lights were also a bit of a giveaway.
Just watch this hilarious police interaction once they found the woman hiding in the trunk:
"You're accusing me of taking something."

Although police didn't have a warrant to search the Tesla, having a witness watch the shoplifter climb into the trunk of the car was enough probable cause. The police reported that she was cited for having pliers as a burglary tool, resisting arrest, and shoplifting before being released.
At least this lady is a bit more clever than some other dumb criminals out there, like this dude who tried to hide under a blanket back in 2022.

A court date for Yanagida's case hasn't been set yet (if there will ever be one.)
This is California, after all.
It's a free-for-all out there!
Will they actually do anything about a measly $850 worth of stolen goods while other police forces are threatening to charge stores for reporting shoplifting?
