Sisters give birth on the same day to babies with the exact same birth weight

Sisters Mallory Averett and Marissa Deering of Utah have a history of twins in their family, so when they each found out they were expecting they knew that having twins was a possibility.

But instead of twins, the two sisters were shocked to learn they were both due around the same time in February.

When they found out, the sisters joked about the possibility of giving birth on the same day, but as the pregnancies went on, their pregnancies became more and more similar. The sisters describe having the same pregnancy symptoms at the same time, including both developing gestational diabetes. The two even had the same strange pregnancy cravings.

Marissa Deering was the first sister to give birth - to a baby boy, Angelo, shortly after midnight on February 8th. Almost 24 hours later, her sister Mallory gave birth to a daughter, Maisyn. Both babies were born weighing 6lbs 7oz.

Marissa said of the two babies‘ births,

The fact he came just so close after midnight and she was born so close to midnight, it's like they were making sure that they were born the same day.

The 23-hour gap between the two births gave the girl's mom (and now proud grandmother) Carol Deering, the chance to drive the two hours between where her daughters were both giving birth and be there for the birth of both of her grandchildren in one day!

Carol told FOX 13,

I was getting a little nervous that I wasn't going make it to either one of them … [W]e are truly blessed to have both of them here and both healthy, and both 6lbs 7oz.

The sisters say that while growing up they were complete opposites, their nearly identical pregnancies and "almost twins" have brought them closer together than ever.
