Update: The father of the family that was killed was a CEO at industrial engineering company Siemens. His wife and three children were with him.
Tragic news out of New York City today.
All six people onboard the aircraft are dead, according to the Associated Press. Video shows the moments before the helicopter hit the water. In that video, the rotors are completely detached from the rest of the fuselage.

The helicopter was carrying tourists - a family of five that included children - that was visiting New York City from Spain.
An eyewitness says the rotor separated from the body of the aircraft, which was corroborated with video:
The AP reports the incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. EST, although there is no explanation currently for why rotors separated before the aircraft plummeted out of the sky in pieces.
