If everyone on the planet can vote in America's elections, there is no such thing as America anymore.
In a 120-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly blocked the Trump administration from requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote and ordering that election officials 'assess' the citizenship of anyone who receives public assistance before allowing them to register. She also barred the Election Assistance Commission from withholding federal funding from states that did not comply with the order.
Behold, the face of the Affluent White Female Liberal (AWFL) that wants to unmake America:
Colleen has been a longstanding figure in American politics. She presided over the Microsoft anti-trust case in 2001. In 2004, she ordered that terrorists at Guantanamo must be allowed lawyers. And in 2006, she denied a last-minute stay-of-execution request from Saddam Hussein, arguing that the U.S. has no right to interfere in the sovereign matters of another nation. 🤔
Last year, she sentenced a 75-year-old Christian woman to two years under the weaponized FACE Act for blocking a Planned Parenthood while praying, then mocked her:
In this case, she authored a 120-page opinion on why it's a bad thing to require people to be AMERICANS in order to vote in AMERICAN elections.
'Our Constitution entrusts Congress and the States — not the President — with the authority to regulate federal elections,' she wrote. 'No statutory delegation of authority to the Executive Branch permits the President to short-circuit Congress's deliberative process by executive order.'
Okay, but laws such as the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 already make it illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections. Logically, in order to enforce that, wouldn't you have to require people to prove they are citizens? It's sadly a grey area because we aren't a serious or logical nation anymore.
In order to grant someone the right to vote or otherwise alter election law, the legislative branch must exercise its authority - or the majority of the States to bypass Congress. This is what happened with the 14th and 19th Amendments.
But it shouldn't take an act of Congress to bar those who are already prohibited from voting in order for the president to protect the U.S. from the criminal acts of foreign powers.
(One might argue that this is explicitly the president's job description.)
But no matter. Judge Colleen is very upset with Trump bypassing Congress when it comes to barring the Chinese, Saudi Arabians, Zimbabweans, Egyptians, Malaysians, Ecuadorians, Venezuelans, Afghanis, Russians, Congolese, Chileans, and Icelanders from voting in U.S. elections!
If Trump wishes to reform election processes, she wrote, Congress would be the appropriate branch to do so, adding Congress is 'currently debating legislation that would effect many of the changes the President purports to order.'
Oh, and did I mention that this is only one of two injunctions against Trump on this fine Thursday?
Gotta love these Uniparty judges!
