Look, I know some of you people's electric vehicles aren't working in this cold, but there are other options besides stealing a horse and buggy…
Yes, someone stole a horse and buggy from the Walmart parking lot, and yes, I'm over here laughing my behind off about it. Like, I knew we had a problem with people stealing Kias and what not, but a flippin horse and buggy? That's next-level thievery right there!
A Michigan Amish family's horse and buggy was stolen from outside a Walmart while they shopped over the weekend, police said.
The family - who have not been named publicly - were inside the store's Sturgis location around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when the suspect made off with their transportation, the Sturgis Department of Public Safety said.
So at about sundown some random lady hopped in this buggy — again, in a Walmart parking lot, which is quite possibly the best place for this to happen — grabbed the reins, and started ‘er up.
The record states nothing about drugs but I have assumptions because the horse and buggy were found at a nearby motel later that evening. It also states that police had already interacted with the buggy thief earlier in the day. A truck driver who happened to be in the Walmart parking lot informed police of the female buggy thief and may have pointed them in the right direction.
Authorities found the stolen horse and buggy later that evening, and arrested the 31-year-old suspect - who has not been named publicly - at a motel nearby, police said.
The suspect was booked at St. Joseph County Jail on charges of larceny and larceny of livestock, pending arraignment, they added.
You'll be glad to know that the horse was unharmed, though it is possible it caught some television through the window of that motel, so the Amish may have to put it down.
Not sure how they feel about the whole horses-watching-TV thing, but I heard they're pretty strict.
