I watched the final game last night and I know you Phillies fans are excited.
As in, really excited.
But here's the thing...
The fate of the entire world may depend on you guys losing.
Do you see the writing on the wall?
- On October 14, 1929, the Philadelphia Athletics won 3-2 against the Cubs in Game 5 of the Series. 15 days later, the stock market crashed on Black Tuesday, plunging the world into the Great Depression that set the stage for WW2.
- The Phillies then won in Game 6 of the series on October 21, 1980 against the Kansas City Royals. The world was then beginning the biggest recession since WW2, reaching its worst point in 1982 with crippling unemployment.
- In 2008, the Phillies crushed the Tampa Bay Rays, winning the Series in Game 5 on October 29. To be fair, the massive market crash occurred exactly one month prior to that on September 29, but the fact that Game 5 was suspended in the sixth inning because of rain โ the only game in a World Series to ever be suspended like that โ should have been a warning to us all.
Now we come to 2022. The politicians have printed an insane amount of cash and are continuing to focus on transgender TikTok influencers and forced vaccine mandates while the entire globe's supply and energy chain crumbles into dust. Like clockwork, the Phillies are set to play the Houston Astros for the famed title of champion.
