Starting this year, students in the State of New York university system must take DEI and Social Justice courses as part of their generals

Okay folks, this is a long one. Better settle in.

As of Fall 2023, all State University of New York System (SUNY) students will be required to take Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice classes aka Marxist identity politics as part of their general education.

The SUNY Board of Trustees voted to include the requirement starting this year way back in November of 2021. SUNY includes 64 four-year colleges in the state of New York, and the DEI requirements for all students attending them now include the following:

Students will

  • describe the historical and contemporary societal factors that shape the development of individual and group identity involving race, class, and gender;
  • analyze the role that complex networks of social structures and systems play in the creation and perpetuation of the dynamics of power, privilege, oppression, and opportunity; and
  • apply the principles of rights, access, equity, and autonomous participation to past, current, or future social justice action.

The board also released an example rubric for how these classes should be tailored.

Here are what the students who excel in the classes should be able to articulate:

  • Student clearly articulates how key historical and contemporary factors shape the development of individual and group identity, and the relationship between race, class, gender, and other elements of identity (intersectionality).
  • Student uses evidence-based logical argumentation to critically analyze manifestations of power dynamics in social structures, and the interplay of variables such as power, privilege, oppression, and opportunity.
  • Student applies the principles of rights, access, equity, and autonomous participation to a past, current, or future social justice topic in a field of study.

Wow! That's a whole lot of gobbledygook. Let's break it down:

  • Students that go through these classes will hold to stereotypes based on skin color and sex.
  • Students will understand that capitalism, individual freedom, and religion are responsible for all the world's ills and should be replaced with Marxism.
  • Students will learn to wokescold and riot to bring about the glorious revolution and the fall of the Western world.

Now, should the faculty of the universities not agree with these directives, the board has also launched an asynchronous reeducation program for teachers to

"develop new mindsets and strategies for more inclusive and equitable practices in classrooms and other learning environments."

There are 20 competencies that faculty must achieve, which you can find in the above link, and for the sake of some semblance of brevity, I won't list here, but one of them is to

create more equitable achievement among diverse populations of students (especially those who are underrepresented in particular fields or disciplines.

In other words, dumb down the curriculum, regardless of the necessity of rigor for the field of study. You'll recall that it was NYU that fired their organic chemistry professor because the class was too hard.

If you're a business owner, organizational head, or educational leader and reading this, I would seriously think twice about hiring anyone with a New York degree issued from this point forward.

On the other hand, if you're in the market for an employee that doesn't know what they're doing and wants to actively destroy your business, organization, or school, SUNY students might be the right choice.
