It's the end of an era, and maybe even the end of the world as we know it.
"A Charlie Brown Christmas" (and all of the other Charlie Brown specials) will no longer air on regular TV.
Apple TV has purchased the rights, so it will only air on their platform going forward.
No longer will the plebeian masses, without access to paid platform TV, be able to bask in the sweetness, the purity, the spirituality that was the annual ritual of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" television special.
So ok, Apple TV has agreed to stream it free for a limited selection of dates. But Charles Schultz' classic cartoon characterization of the true meaning of Christmas SHOULD BELONG TO THE WORLD!
"ISN'T THERE ANYONE WHO KNOWS WHAT CHRISTMAS IS ALL ABOUT?!" exclaims Charlie Brown.
"Sure Charlie Brown. I can tell you what Christmas is all about," replies Linus calmly.
