With everything going on in the United States today, you should take heart that the Biden administration is putting all of its focus on solving the problems that are really affecting Americans.
No, they aren't closing the border. And no, they aren't increasing oil drilling. They also aren't handling inflation or doing anything to reduce fentanyl overdoses.
But, by golly, they are going to end vaping! Well, one particular brand of e-cigarettes at least.
Good job Joe!
Thank you for focusing on the REAL issues of today, like vaping.
The Food and Drug Administration is preparing to order Juul Labs Inc. to take its e-cigarettes off the U.S. market, according to people familiar with the matter.
The FDA could announce its decision as early as Wednesday, the people said. The marketing denial order would follow a nearly two-year review of data presented by the vaping company, which sought authorization for its tobacco- and menthol-flavored products to stay on the U.S. market.
Why is this a concern for us right now, with everything else happening in the United States?
What's the point?
The FDA is literally only targeting this one brand of vapes. Not vaping in general, just Juuls in particular.
The FDA has barred the sale of all sweet and fruity e-cigarette cartridges. The agency has cleared the way for Juul's biggest rivals, Reynolds American Inc. and NJOY Holdings Inc., to keep tobacco-flavored e-cigarettes on the market. Industry observers had expected Juul to receive similar clearance.
So, the FDA will allow other companies to sell menthol and tobacco-flavored e-cigs, but after two years of review, Juul is specifically looking at an outright ban.
And I'm not saying vaping is cool. As a matter of fact, I think it makes you look like a total loser.
But Juuls are largely used by people who are trying to stop smoking. Not just teenagers.
Another historic, very important win for this administration!
