Remember this from a few years back?
Let me refresh your memory.
[Warning: Disturbing]
Former Pittsburgh Penguin Adam Johnson would sadly lose his life to his injuries.
Originally, this was being pursued as a manslaughter case, and of course the media was calling it an accident; but now, we've learned that there will be zero charges against Matt Petgrave, the man who raised his skate on the play, ending Adam Johnson's life.
Here's what the Crown Prosecution Service had to say:
We have concluded that there is not a realistic prospect of conviction for any criminal offense and so there will not be a prosecution. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Adam Johnson.

I mean, take another look:
More context from authorities:
'The Crown Prosecution Service has decided it will not bring criminal charges against a professional ice hockey player following the death of Adam Johnson during a match between The Sheffield Steelers and The Nottingham Panthers,' CPS said in a statement.
'This was a shocking and deeply upsetting incident. The CPS and South Yorkshire Police have worked closely together to determine whether any criminal charges should be brought against the other ice hockey player involved,' Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Michael Quinn said.

'Extensive enquiries, including reviewing footage, interviewing witnesses and consulting with highly-specialised experts from North America, were carried out,' said the South Yorkshire Police.
'In May 2024, a file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for review and for a charging decision to be made.'
'Since then, we have worked closely with the CPS and provided them with supplementary information to address follow-up enquiries.'
'Following the CPS review, they have declined to authorise charges.'
So Petgrave will walk away a free man and everyone will be forced to remember this one as simply a freak accident.
