The Cardinals let Albert Pujols pitch the top of the ninth in a 15-2 ballgame and it was amazing to watch

On Sunday night, St. Louis Cardinals fans were not only treated to a whooping of the visiting San Francisco Giants, but also (for those who stuck around long enough) a glimpse at Albert Pujols taking the mound in the top of the ninth to close out the game.

For those of you not savvy to Mr. Pujols, he played eleven seasons in St. Louis from 2001-2011, where he was a nine-time All-Star and led the Cards to two World Series Championships. He returned to the Cardinals this year for his "final season" after playing for ten years out in L.A.

Never has Pujols pitched in the MLB, as may be evident in the upcoming videos, but the crowd, they absolutely loved it!

Listen to the fans as he takes the mound:

You just gotta love baseball! Even the Giants players are all smiles for this occasion, and they're down 15-2!!

Here's the full top of nine:

High quality baseball right there! 😂

Not one fan in their seat.

And did you hear Evan Longoria ask for the ball after recording a hit off of Pujols?

Amazing!

So just to recap: Pujols, in one inning's work, gave up three hits, two home runs, four earned runs, and one walk. He recorded zero strikeouts, and a whopping 36.00 ERA.

And the crowd loved every moment of it!

Final score: 15-6 St. Louis.

I'll leave you with the words of the great David Cone, who was calling this game for ESPN:

"Who's gonna break it to Albert that he doesn't get a save for this?"

🤣🤣🤣
