Philly, like most American cities, is seeing a massive uptick in violent crime, surpassing a 30-year-old homicide record with 501 murders this year, the most ever recorded in the city.
Mayor Jim Kenney's (D) Philadelphia reached the figure of 501 homicides for the year on Friday, surpassing the annual homicide record of 500 set back in 1990.
6 ABC reports the city's 501 murder occurred around 9 p.m. Friday "on the 7100 block of Ardleigh Street in East Mount Airy."
The victim was a male who was shot five times. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The city's NBC10 station reported that homicide is up 13% from last year and that 2021 has been a "particularly violent year for women."
Just a week ago, a security camera recorded a delivery driver fending off three criminals who jumped him outside his house.
Fortunately, in that case, the driver was legally armed with a blaster.
To add fuel to the fire, the citizens of Philly say their emergency responders have not been... well, responding.
One has to wonder where this violence, lack of staffing, and lack of police resources come from.
- It's not like an entire side of the political aisle galvanized behind the idea that police are systemically racist or told people the only way to get "justice" was to burn the country down.
- It's not like that same side of the aisle decriminalized crime itself and pooh-poohed anyone who complained about their business getting wrecked.
- And that side of the aisle certainly locks up cities full of healthy people inside their homes for months on end, or disincentivize those people from returning to work by giving them "free" money and mandating they get medical procedures against their will.
Philly, of course, isn't alone in setting violent crime records. New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other big cities run by leftist leaders are experiencing a historic wave of crime.
Gun violence is ravaging other Democrat-run cities around the country as well.
Breitbart News noted nearly 40 people were shot in Mayor Lori Lightfoot's (D) Chicago by Sunday morning alone during Thanksgiving weekend and HeyJackass.com pointed out that 3,486 people have been shot and wounded in Chicago so far this year.
Another 738 people have been shot and killed in Chicago during 2021.
Mayor Bill Peduto's (D) Pittsburgh is also grappling with gun crime. Breitbart News observed that Pittsburgh's Deputy police commissioner Christine Coulter blasted the District Attorney, suggesting lax gun prosecutions, after a pregnant woman and her baby were shot and killed November 20, 2021.
To those of you still living in these leftist utopias: Good luck!
