I voted so hard for this.

More from USA Today:

The subpoenas went to the offices of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, according the outlets, including Reuters, the New York Times and Fox News, which cited anonymous sources.

The subpoenas come days after the Department of Justice announced it was launching an investigation into Walz and Frey in connection with a suspected conspiracy to impede federal immigration enforcement in the state. Both officials deny the allegations.

If you recall, Walz went out last week and talked about being "at war" with the U.S. government.

He broadcast a similar message where he claimed federal officers were carrying out an illegal "occupation" of brutality. He even invoked the idea of asking for papers, a phrase undoubtedly meant to compare ICE officers to Nazis (what do you do to Nazis?):

He even made this Civil War reference:

Jacob Frey has made similar comments, including a line about residents asking the police to fight federal agents.

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche had this to say about that:

When the governor or the mayor threaten our officers, when the mayor suggests that he's encouraging citizens to call 911 when they see ICE officers, that is very close to a federal crime.

What's wild is how half the country thinks this is a wonderful exercise of lawful power to hold elected officials accountable for their illegal, dangerous actions that are impeding federal law officers ... and the other half thinks this is literally a parallel to Nazi Germany and Trump is Hitler.

Of course, these subpoenas mean absolutely nothing unless you actually prosecute the people.
