The Francis Scott Key bridge collapsed only hours ago, but the AP is making sure you know Key was an evil slave owner

They haven't even finished recovery operations yet, but the AP is already moving on to declare the collapsed bridge in Maryland "racist."

Unspeakable tragedy. National disaster. What is it people need to know? Well, I guess that this may have been one of Gay Mayor Pete's racist bridges because it was named after -GASP!- a slave owner!

Key, whose family owned people and who owned enslaved people himself...

The bridge was named for Francis Scott Key, the great American who wrote our National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner." The bridge was named for Key because it crossed the very river where Key sat while penning the anthem.

But the man, the anthem, and this bridge were all racist, and the wokies are here to remind us!!!

While the first verse of the anthem is the most well-known, there are a total of four stanzas; in the third, there's a reference made to a slave. Key, whose family owned people and who owned enslaved people himself, supported the idea of sending free Black people to Africa but opposed the abolition of slavery in the U.S., according to the National Park Service's Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine.

His personal history has made him a controversial figure in some quarters; in June 2020, a statue of him in San Francisco was taken down.

Some idiots in San Francisco tore down his statue in 2020, so he's obviously a controversial figure!

And we probably shouldn't feel too bad about his bridge falling down either. You know, because racism and slavery is the unforgivable sin.

Yeah, they're gonna name it after someone lame, aren't they?
