The disgraced Lincoln Project is at it again, this time using Anne Frank as a political prop in an anti-ICE post that would embarrass a ninth-grade history student.

That's just quality commentary, except for just a few minor problems. Problems like:

  1. Anne Frank didn't live in Germany. She lived legally in Amsterdam, after her family fled Germany to escape Nazis.

  2. Anne Frank wasn't targeted for her immigration status. She was targeted because she was Jewish.

  3. The goal of the Nazis wasn't deportation. It was extermination.

  4. Anne Frank was not being "sent home." She was being sent to gas chambers.

If ever there was evidence that the grifters at the Lincoln Project had lost their moral bearings, it's this. Taking genocide, ethnic cleansing, industrial-scale murder of innocent civilians and equating it to the legal deportation of criminals to their country of origin is stupidity at a galactic level.

More than a few sane people jumped on the Lincoln boys in the comments:

Truth be told, if Anne Frank were alive today and living legally in Amsterdam, ICE would have exactly zero involvement in her life. If she were in the U.S. illegally, the worst-case outcome would be deportation back to Amsterdam. Not starvation, not forced labor, not death.

This isn't a subtle distinction. It's the entire moral universe. It's more than apparent the clown brigade running The Lincoln Project doesn't dwell there.
