Manhattan Machete Maniac's reign of terror is over: Police arrest college professor for wielding machete against reporter

For days now, New York has been living under fear of knife-wielding maniac college professor Shellyne Rodriguez after she came close to cutting a New York Post reporter:

Now Gotham can breath a bit easier with this blade-brandishing screwball's arrest by New York's Finest:

The manic Manhattan arts professor who held a machete to a Post reporter's neck and threatened to "chop" him up flashed a brazen smile Thursday after law enforcement sources say she was slapped with harassment and menacing charges.

A smirking Shellyne Rodriguez, 45, held her head high as she was escorted out of the 43rd Precinct in the Bronx in handcuffs just after 11 a.m. — several hours after turning herself in over Tuesday's caught-on-camera ordeal.

If Rodriguez ends up in prison, it looks like she's well-prepared for that environment: She sports various tough tattoos including an image of brass knuckles and a FTP abbreviation (for "f*** the police").

In the wake of the incident, the educator has been fired from her position at Hunter College.
