This zoo got a baby hippopotamus for Christmas and it's even cuter than you think

The Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia welcomed a baby pygmy hippopotamus just in time for Christmas this year. The baby hippo weighed around 16 pounds at birth, but will likely gain another 584 pounds (give or take a few) before it is fully grown.

The zoo tweeted out a picture of the mom and baby a few days before Christmas,

And of course, they had to post a video of the baby hippo frolicking around to the tune of "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas."

And while hippos are not exactly known for their beauty, after all, their name is synonymous with fat, even baby hippos are just adorable to watch.

Congrats to the new hippo parents, and a very Merry Christmas to the Metro Richmond Zoo!
