I'm not sure what this madwoman thought was going to happen. Then again, since she's a madwoman I guess she didn't think about it:

A 33-year-old woman, who has not yet been identified, was firing a semi-automatic pistol into the air and pointing it at oncoming vehicles [in the Long Island suburb of North Bellmore].
As the woman points the gun at her skull, a police SUV makes a hard turn toward her and knocks her to the street before she can get away.
The woman is currently in custody; the driver of the police SUV, meanwhile, was "sent to a hospital for a check-up on emotional trauma."
Social media users, meanwhile, sounded their approval of the cop's quick-thinking action:
Great job indeed, Nassau County PD. Keep it up!
