The YouTube account of the NYC assassination suspect just published a video promising to expose "the truth." Here's what we know about this guy.

This guy wants attention.

The suspect in the brutal assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has seemingly released a video that says he will reveal the truth on Wednesday, December 11.

If it's not available on YouTube (they will likely pull it down at some point), the X link follows.

Yeah, so I'm getting "has watched too many serial killer movies" vibes.

YouTube allows users to schedule posts in advance. Mangione could have set the video to go public on this specific day. Alternatively, he could have pushed the scheduling back each day to guarantee that it would go public if he was caught.

Mangione was arrested at a Pennsylvania McDonald's with four fake IDs and a suppressed handgun similar to the one used to kill Thompson last week. Officers found him calmly eating when they arrived.

Now look at his YouTube profile picture (the account joined in January 2024, so it is not a troll):

Yeah. Him smiling with a McDonald's box.

The guy comes from one of the richest families in Maryland (Baltimore) and worked in software development after graduating from University of Pennsylvania with a master's in computer science.

Here's his valedictorian speech from his graduation from the Gilman School, a private institution (because of course he was the valedictorian).

Mangione reportedly lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, until recently and had dropped off the radar. His X profile shows he stopped posting or retweeting after 2022 and people were reportedly concerned about his behavior.

Some reports indicate he hurt his back in Hawaii and was hooked on pain meds before trying psychedelics (which he had re-posted about on X).

Mangione seems like a smart guy, and if he was the shooter, then he planned it out poetically to the applause of many clapping seals. Perhaps getting arrested after successfully escaping was his way of showing authorities that he's smarter than them.

Of course, these types of criminals are forgotten in the dustbin of history after a short time (outside of the occasional Netflix true-crime show for middle-aged women).

That 15 minutes of "fame" burns out quickly in light of eternity.
