Thirty years ago a dude bought a cask of whiskey from a Scottish distillery and then forgot about it and he just recently remembered it and sold it for $1.3 million

Misplace your debit card and you gotta cancel it and get a new debit card. Misplace your shed key and you gotta get a locksmith to come out and make you a new one.

Misplace 100 gallons of whiskey, on the other hand, and...well, you can do this:

On Sunday evening, Whisky Hammer, a British-based whiskey auctioning company, sold a 374-liter cask of whiskey for £1,017,000 — $1,295,459.68 — that was originally distilled at The Macallan in 1988.

That's right: This sucker was distilled when Ronald Reagan was still president!

Meanwhile, how does a massive 374-liter "cask of whiskey" just sit around for well over three decades? Who lets that happen?

The cask was reportedly purchased and left at The Macallan Distillery for maturation. The buyer forgot about it for 30 years and decided to recently sell it at auction.

Ahh yes. We've all forgotten about our massive cases of bespoke whiskey every now and then. You get up from the party, there's a lot going on, you forget to pick it up...

Here's something even crazier to think of: This dude obviously just made a ton of bank. But how rich was he already that he could just order a huge barrel of whiskey and forget about it for 30 years?

You can't put a number of that kind of wealth!
