Sadly, the celebration of emancipation on Juneteenth hasn't turned into the unifying moment of post-racial American pride many hoped it would be. Instead, we're seeing it become a day of resentment and division.
Take this recent post from Rep. Cori Bush, for example:
In yet another sad case, a TikTok video went viral in which a black woman complained that she had to work on Juneteenth at "the white man's office," likening it to "slavery."
I'm stuck in this office, in the white man's office, working for the white man, real modern-day slavery... are we getting paid double today? Not everybody, just the black people.
Here's hoping her employer liberated this woman from her "slavery."
