I'm not sure how I feel about a machine that makes cooking obsolete:

Posha, a former TechCrunch Startup Battlefield company, builds countertop robots that make meals using computer vision. Users scroll through a list of recipes, select the one they want, add the proper amounts of the requested ingredients, and the machine makes the meal from there. ...

β€˜It's like a coffee machine for food,' [founder Raghav] Gupta said. β€˜So when you want to drink a cup of coffee, you choose a brew of coffee on your coffee machine. You put beans, sugar, and milk in different containers. You tap brew, and out comes a cup of coffee. Posha does something similar, but for food.'

Yes, it's "something similar" indeed:

So basically, you prep the ingredients as normal and then the robot dumps it all together and cooks it.

Doesn't it feel like this machine just sucks all the lifeblood out of home cooking? Basically turning the whole process into a protracted Mr. Coffee?

I'm not even saying I'm some kind of professional-level chef. But I feel like cooking should have a little more soul to it than ... this:

And, if I'm being honest, for some of us the prep work of cutting up the food and measuring out the ingredients is the difficult part of cooking! Any schmuck can stand over a pot and stir, which is what it looks like this robot's primary job is!

The company looks like it's on the verge of success, however. They recently raised $8 million for further development. And Gupta is looking to develop ways for the machine to be more flexible in home kitchens:

In particular, the company wants to add more recipe options and the ability for people to suggest recipe ideas and have generative AI turn those ideas into instructions and add them into the device quickly.

Note that this isn't the only robot making food these days:

I think I'd prefer to keep the humans in the kitchen, thanks!
