Well this story is embarrassing:

Kevin Tighe of Northern Michigan—no, not the U.P., just the northern mitten—broke into a house earlier this month and was almost immediately spotted by a woman who gave a loud scream. The woman's husband came downstairs and hollered at Tighe to get lost, which he did.

The couple then called the police, and a trooper showed up shortly to look for the suspect.

The trooper searched the area for a while until he found Tighe "in the backyard of his parents' home nearby."

Nice lil spot!

When Tighe saw the trooper he started running away, and eventually escaped into a nearby wood. A K-9 unit was called in to look for him, but couldn't find his trail.

I can imagine by this point, having successfully outrun the police, Tighe was feeling pretty good about himself.

(How cool! I did it! Just like in the movies!)

But that feeling didn't last very long:

Later that evening, however, Tighe called 911 to report that he had gotten lost and needed help, MSP said.

Tighe helped police figure out where he was, he flagged them down and he was taken to the Grand Traverse County Jail.

He faces one count of breaking and entering without permission and one count of resisting and obstructing police. Bond was set at $1,000 / 10%.
