This FedEx driver killed a 3-foot rattle snake on a customer's porch: "Sorry about the blood"

Matt with FedEx is my unofficial Not the Bee hero of the day.

The Nebraska driver was dropping off a package at a customer's home and spotted something that NO ONE wants to see on their front porch: a venomous rattler.

Here's a video of the dangerous serpent:

Matt Govier spotted the viper, thank goodness, and he didn't just toss the package and run. No, he went above and WAY beyond duty, especially for FedEx (sorry, not sorry), and dispatched the snake himself.

Matt searched in a nearby open garage and grabbed a shovel and a rake and made quick work of the rattlesnake, killing it and possibly saving the lives of the homeowners and their pets.

Here's a photo that Govier sent to the homeowner:

Sorry about the blood

That snake was coiled up on the porch. It could have struck anyone who walked up on it.

And Matt here is apologizing for leaving a trail of blood.

You've gotta love people like Matt who stick their necks out for complete strangers.

Jones (the homeowner) called Govier the "FedEx employee of the year" on Facebook.

"We weren't home, but my daughter had just left out this front door 23 minutes before it slithered up my step. Eeeeek," Jones said, according to the World-Herald.

We salute you Matt from FedEx!
